When is the application deadline?
The application deadline for the programme has been extended to 26Â October 2025.

Who should apply?
- 
Black women, including those of Black African, Black Caribbean, or mixed Black heritage, working in UK higher education.Â
 - 
Applications are open across three strands of the programme.
1) Academics - staff may be associate professors, readers, senior lecturers, lecturers, senior research fellows, research fellows and post-docs. Staff must have a contract in place until at least December 2026.2) Professional services - staff may be directors, heads of service, senior managers, managers and other professional services roles. Staff must have a contract in place until at least December 2026.
3) PhD candidates - this is a lighter touch version of the programme. Candidates must still be completing their PhD in June 2026.

How to prepare a strong application
- 
Reflect on your motivation – share why this programme matters to you and how it aligns with your long-term career goals.
 - 
Show your readiness – highlight the steps you’ve taken to progress and the barriers the programme could help you address.
 - 
Think about your influence – describe how you hope to use the programme not only for yourself, but also to inspire others and create wider change.
 - 
Be authentic – let your voice and story come through. This is about you, your journey, and your aspirations.
 
Tips on identifying an Ally
In order to take part in the 100 B programme, academic and professional services applicants must be endorsed by an Ally. (Allies are not part of the PhD experience). When thinking about how to identify an Ally:
- 
Choose someone at department, faculty, school, or division level with the authority to influence workload, priorities, and decision-making. This could be your line manager.
 - 
Look for a person who is respected, open, and committed to equity and change.
 - 
Remember: an Ally doesn’t need to share your background; what matters is their ability and willingness to act.
