Celebrating International Women's Day 2020

positive action women in research Mar 06, 2020

By Madiha Sajid, WHEN Development and Operations Manager

I am very pleased to introduce The Edit on International Women's Day. This edition looks at positive action that we can take in our workplaces to foster gender equality. I am Madiha Sajid and as Development and Operations Manager for WHEN, it has been my privilege to contribute towards positive action that is happening at workplaces throughout the country. WHEN is celebrating International Women’s Day 2020 with our institutional member, Loughborough University with a masterclass on the Power of Networking. Moreover, we are thrilled to be a sponsor for the Times Higher Education symposium on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. Our annual conference is scheduled for July, before that check out our webinar on Career Progression that will be available in April and you can find out about our events here. We are also thrilled that our WHEN team is growing with the inclusion of Aimee and Ivana (see their introduction here) and many more volunteers.

The theme for International Women's Day is Each for Equal. We create a gender equal world by actively choosing to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women's achievements. I am proud to be doing that through WHEN and I am proud of our members, supporters and volunteers for making that choice too. Together we are stronger! Now let's speed up gender equality.
